Shoprite Pemba opened its doors on 29 June 2017 in the new Pemba Shopping Mall in Pemba, a Mozambican port town and the capital of the northern province of Cabo Delgado. With an estimated population over 1,8 million people, Cabo Delgado has seen strong economic growth in recent times.
Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi visited anchor store, Shoprite Pemba, with the opening of the mall.
Traditional ceremonies accompanied the grand opening and the festivities on the day.
