Small supplier Ree Collective and Checkers donated 300 diaper bags filled with Lovies nappies and wipes to various mother-and-child care non-government organisations in the Western Cape's Boland region earlier this week.

Business owner Ree Geldenhuys is donating one Sidekick baby bag to charity for every 10 sold in Checkers and Checkers Hyper supermarkets nationally. In addition, the attachment of swing tags to the baby bags are outsourced to Mosaic, providing 22 women with an additional income.

“I believe I am meant to use the opportunities and resources I have for the wellbeing of a greater community. Partnering with Checkers on this initiative enables me to help more people now and in the future.”

- Ree Geldenhuys, Ree Collective

The 300 diaper bags were distributed to the ACVV (Stellenbosch), Badisa (Wellington), Child Welfare South Africa (Wellington), Connect Network (Somerset West), Western Cape Department of Social Development (Paarl), Kin Culture (Paarl), Ma's vir Wellington (Wellington), Mosaic Community Development (Paarl) and Orchard Africa (Somerset West).
