Shoprite Sixty60 has joined hands with the legendary Yvonne Chaka Chaka to commemorate her 60th birthday with a delivery of essential food items to elderly residents of Soweto.
Sixty60 launches at Shoprite Protea Glen on 20 March, making it the second store to bring the convenience of on-demand grocery delivery to Soweto, with Shoprite Jabulani already up and running since last year.
It also coincides with a very special time for the “Princess of Africa” as she celebrates exactly 40 years since she took to the stage in Soweto, for her first ever live performance.
Shoprite Sixty60 will remain true to the supermarket’s low-price promise, while reimagining the shopping experience. It does the heavy lifting for customers with convenient, fast delivery of grocery essentials at in-store prices, offering the same instant Xtra Savings rewards on the app and at the till.

Working closely with community leaders, she returned to her place of birth this week to deliver Shoprite Sixty60 bags packed with groceries to 100 families.

The on-demand delivery service has already launched at Shoprite Atlantis and Shoprite Kleinmond in the Western Cape, and Shoprite Kriel in Mpumalanga. Fourteen more stores across eight provinces are set to follow in a phased roll-out that will ensure that each new location delivers the excellence and efficiency that has become synonymous with Sixty60.
