In April 2012 Shoprite and Checkers urged customers to support the RSG/KKNK Book Collection campaign that collects books for underprivileged communities. Books could be donated by placing them into branded golden trolleys located at the entrance of Shoprite, Checkers and Checkers Hyper stores countrywide.
Through customer's generous donations more than 56 000 books - fiction, non-fiction, textbooks, children’s literature, encyclopaedias, reference books, old and new - were collected this year!
Thank you to everyone who donated and in so doing assisted in enriching the lives of young and old with the knowledge and joy found on the pages of books.
All books collected during this time will be sorted and distributed to needy schools, libraries and community organizations by the Vryburgers Diensorganisasie.
