The House of Fine Whisky at Checkers LiquorShop unveiled the latest addition to its exclusive Private Barrel Co. range of whiskies - an eagerly awaited rare 23-year-old Springbank single malt Scotch whisky - at the Mesh Club in the Keyes Art Mile in Rosebank.

The Private Barrel Co.’s limited edition Springbank was matured in bourbon barrels for 22 years before being married together in a hogshead and then finished in a second fill Oloroso sherry cask. Consumers can expect aromas of sherry and ripe summer fruits. It is rich and full bodied on the palate with a lovely velvet texture and hints of sugared almonds, subtle spice and some salty liquorice, leading to a long and warm finish with some dried fruit, a little peat smoke and hints of sherry.

Established in 1828 in Campbeltown - the once proclaimed ‘whisky capital of the world’ - the Springbank Distillery only makes use of traditional production methods. Unlike any other distillery in Scotland, 100% of the whisky making process is carried out on site, ensuring that the Springbank Distillery has unrivalled control over the quality of the whisky.

With only 324 bottles available, consumers will have to scurry to get their hands on this collector’s item at the special price of R2 999.99. Only available online from Checkers LiquorShop from Sunday, 20 October 2019.

The Private Barrel Co. story

Since 2012, Checkers and its whisky masters have travelled to some of the world’s finest distillers to source only the best whiskies. These hand-picked whiskies are selected for their unique character, rarity and devotion to the age-old traditions and then bottled under the Private Barrel Co. label and brought to consumers in limited edition, limited quantities.

Each bottle is individually numbered, with tasting notes, and exclusive to Checkers LiquorShop.
