Following the success of The Thoughtful Path’s community food garden in Munsieville, Krugersdorp, Shoprite donated 500 indigenous and fruit trees to households in the area to ensure greater food security.
The trees will be planted at 250 households around The Thoughtful Path Community Garden which has been supported by Shoprite since 2019 and has seen more than 400 community members receive permaculture training to ensure greater food security.
The Trees and Gardens for Home project is aimed at further greening the community and growing food.
“We are committed to building the resilience of the communities in which we operate, and with this project we aim to ensure that the community becomes even more sustainable.”
- Sanjeev Raghubir, Group Sustainability Manager
“Tree planting at homes will ensure that local food security, economic empowerment and environmental sustainability are addressed and as such we are thankful to Shoprite for their consideration of the project.”
- Betty Nkoana, Founder of The Thoughtful Path
