Shoprite supermarket chain, in partnership with Eyesizwe Mining Development Trust, visited Shalamuka Primary School in Belfast Village, Mpumalanga to deliver 546 pairs of brand-new school shoes to its young learners.

This donation is part of a larger drive to hand over 7 500 pairs of shoes to schools around the country and forms part of Shoprite's Act For Change initiative which aims to help make a difference in communities where the greatest need is.

Procured from MyWalk, the shoes are made from 100% recycled and recyclable material. The public benefit organisation (PBO) uses non-hazardous medical waste, including drip bags and tubing, safely collected and sanitised, to deliver durable, waterproof and recyclable shoes, reducing healthcare waste to landfill.

“The communities we serve are always at the core of our business. They are our customers who shop at our stores, and in partnership with like-minded organisations, we strive to uplift the communities in which we operate in.”
