Africa’s largest retailer has been named the 2024 Employer of Choice in the retail category by the South African Graduate Employers Association (SAGEA) Employer Awards.
This accolade is based on the results of 2 717 recent graduates surveyed as part of the SAGEA Candidate Insights study 2024. Participants were asked to name their top aspirational employer in an open-ended question.
Now in its fourteenth year, the SAGEA Employer Awards celebrate the achievements of South Africa’s leading graduate employers, and are decided entirely by successful job hunters, who have received confirmed job offers from graduate employers.

The Shoprite Group is the largest private-sector employer in South Africa with more than 160 000 employees. It invests approximately R20 million in graduate development, including funding some 200 bursary students each financial year and was recently certified by the Top Employers Institute, a global authority on excellence in people practices.
