Shoprite and Checkers stores have an exciting range of consumer leaflets to keep their customers informed about aspects concerning a better and healthier lifestyle. The leaflets provide valuable information on a variety of topical issues such as health care, consumer information, as well as a recipe range.
The latest leaflet in the health care range was created in support for International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking that is observed on 26 June. Research has shown that many of those who take drugs tend to be either misinformed or insufficiently aware of the health risks involved. This leaflet aims to educate people about the nature of drugs and the health risks associated with illicit drug use in order not only to make the right decisions for themselves, but also to identify and help others who might need help overcoming their addiction.
The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) leads the international campaign against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking aimed at raising awareness of the major problem that drug abuse represent to society and especially to young people. The goal of the campaign, which runs from 2007 to 2009, is to inspire people and mobilize support for drug control. The international campaign slogan, "Do drugs control your life? Your life. Your community. No place for drugs", communicates that the destructive effects of illicit drugs concern us all.
The Shoprite Checkers consumer leaflets demonstrate the supermarket group’s commitment to care for the communities they operate in. The group believes an informed consumer is a better consumer, and aims to provide information and hints on a range of topics that touches the average South African shopper daily.
