Shoprite and Checkers supermarkets are offering to beat any toy price by 10% if a competitor store advertises the identical item at a lower price this festive season.

The “Toy Price Guarantee” extends to all in-store purchases of toys and baby toys at Shoprite and Checkers supermarkets from 19 October until 24 December 2015.

“We are the biggest toy retailer in South Africa. Across the two supermarket brands, we stock almost 3,000 different toys,” commented Neil Schreuder, Marketing Director for Shoprite Checkers.

Earlier this year Shoprite was voted SA’s No.1 Toy Retailer in the 2015/2016 Ask Africa Icon Brands survey.

Both Shoprite and Checkers placed their festive season toy orders months in advance, when the Rand was stronger. “That’s why we can now offer consumers the greatest variety of toys at the best prices,” Schreuder explained. “Not only do we have toys available across different price points, but we also have the stock levels to back it up. As a parent, there’s nothing worse than not being able to get your hands on that specific toy your child so badly wants, because the retailer only brought in 100 or 200 units.”

The current biggest toy franchises in South Africa are those for Disney’s Frozen and Star Wars movies. “We are without a doubt the cheapest when it comes to big brands like Lego, Transformers, Barbie and the Ninja Turtles,” said Schreuder.

Shoprite and Checkers supermarkets are running their “Toy Price Guarantee” promotion for the second year. It applies to any toys advertised by South African brick-and-mortar retailers. Physical proof of the original, complete competitor ad, with valid dates, must be presented in-store at the time of purchase.  For full terms and conditions, please visit www.termsconditions.co.za.
