Shoprite is bringing its promise of everyday low prices to customers in Khayelitsha, Cape Town, on Thursday, 30 June 2016, when it opens its doors at the newly built Thembokwezi Centre.
The new store opening has created over 150 job opportunities in a community experiencing high levels of unemployment and joblessness. According to Statistics South Africa, the unemployment rate in Khayalitsha increased by 2.2% to 26.7% in March this year. As South Africa’s largest private sector employer, the Shoprite Group continues to create employment opportunities for South Africans on a daily basis.
Shoprite’s opening at Thembokwezi Centre means that customers in the area will be able to find their favourite groceries closer to home, without having to travel long distance. The new Shoprite store will trade from 08:00 – 20:00 Mondays to Fridays, 08:00 – 17:00 on Saturdays and 08:00 – 17:00 on Sundays and Public Holidays.
