It's going to take more than Covid-19 to keep South Africans from competing for the coveted title of SA’s No.1 Boerewors Champion.
Despite the nationwide lockdown, entries for the highly-anticipated Championship Boerewors competition, presented by Shoprite and Checkers, are now open and anyone who believes that they have a winning recipe is invited to enter by Friday, 19 June 2020.
The competition - now in its 28th year - will once again be judged by the culinary experts at the South African Chefs Association (SACA). All entries will go through a validation process to ensure that recipes adhere to the guidelines for making truly traditional boerewors. Once validated, judging will commence to select the 30 best submissions.
The judges then have the even harder task of narrowing it down to the top 10 boerewors recipes, where they will be looking for special flavour and character.
This year the finale will be a virtual affair where the top 10 recipes will be tasted and judged to decide the winner of the 2020 Championship Boerewors competition.
Apart from bragging rights, the esteemed title of 2020 Championship Boerewors winner and the honour of having your winning boerewors sold in Shoprite and Checkers stores throughout South Africa, incredible prizes are up for grabs with the grand prize being a Toyota Fortuner 2.4 GD-6 4x4 6AT.
