Muungamunwe resident Dzhavhelo Mudau has risen through the ranks at the Shoprite Group and was recently promoted to Divisional Financial Manager at OK Furniture.

Passionate about accounting and mathematics, Dzhavhelo set his sights on attending university and moved to Johannesburg in 2014. With support from the Thuthuka Bursary Programme, of which the Group was a sponsor at the time, Dzhavhelo attended the University of the Witwatersrand where he obtained a Bachelor of Accounting Science (BAccSC) in 2016 followed by a Postgraduate Diploma in Accountancy in 2017.

After completing his articles with the Group in 2020, Dzhavhelo worked as a management accountant and in February 2022 he was promoted to his new role within the OK Furniture division.

“The bursary sponsorship was a massive help – it allowed me to focus on my studies and reduce any financial burden. And the subsequent placement within the Shoprite Group has been a dream come true – I’ve loved working at OK Furniture, and hope to continue adding value in my new role.”

- Dzhavhelo Mudau, Divisional Financial Manager for OK Furniture
